Hello my dear friends,
Hello dear itch.io Community,
My name is Dave Flynn So, but you can just call me Dave. I am an "80s child" who has always been fascinated by computers and gaming consoles. For that I thank my dad who helped and taught me everything about computers because of his own fascination.
I quickly discovered my passion and enthusiasm for developing and creating games, which felt no less than works of art.
I taught myself programming and made my first attempts on my Amiga. A Commodore 64 followed and was rounded off with an IBM PC.
The reason I’m so passionate about video games is because they excite, entertain and inspire me. I'm sure most people who have played video games can relate to these emotions.
I remember when Half-Life came out, it gave you the ability to create your own mods. This helped me gain some of my first game/level design experience as I spent hours on its “Hammer Editor”.
After a lot of such game development experiments, reading technical literature and trying it out myself, I was able to gain more and more experience and broaden my horizons.
Throughout this journey I created many small games, some with their own frameworks and engines, most of which unfortunately remained only a prototype. But I keep pushing forward and keep myself motivated by recalling this quote by Samuel Barclay Beckett:
“Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.”
Today ClawBytes is a real sandbox for experiments.
I still don’t own an office or a company. I work with my very own computer at home. In the future if the projects are successful, a company with an office or a company building will hopefully become a reality so that more game ideas can be brought to life.
Fuelling my passion through a lot of coffee, tea and coke I often work on projects after work. With a lot of love and support from my wife, my son and my two daughters, it is possible to do many experiments in game development, where I still learn a lot to this day and still enjoy every second of it.
Thank you my four angels for that.
Thank you very much for reading this.
Dave
